Day 2Lisbon - Panoramic tour - Church of St. Anthony of Lisbon

front st anthony church lisbon fatima lourdes pilgrimage in portugalUpon arrival in Lisbon, we will meet our local tour guide and enjoy a panoramic tour of Lisbon, beginning with a visit to Saint Anthony’s Church.  Although we know him as Saint Anthony of Padua, Anthony was born and grew up in Lisbon, Portugal, and died in Padua, Italy.  He is a Doctor of the Church, given the title of Evangelical Doctor, a Franciscan Friar, and the patron saint of travelers, priests, Portugal, and, of course, helpful for lost objects.  We will celebrate Mass at the Church, which stands on the site of St. Anthony’s birth, and have time to visit the small gift shop and museum attached.  In the front square is a statue of Saint Anthony, clothed in his Order of Friars Minor, a.k.a. Franciscan habit, and blessed and inaugurated by Pope Saint John Paul II in 1982.  Inside the church is a first-class relic of St. Anthony. Dinner and Overnight in Lisbon.

Day 3Santarem - Venerate the Eucharistic Miracle at Church of Saint Stephen - Fatima

Eucharistic Miracle at St. Stephen church in Santarem portugal on the fatima lourdes pilgrimageMonstrance at santarem containing the eucharistic miracle Fatima Lourdes portugal pilgrimageDrive to the town of Santarem, one of the oldest cities in Portugal, where you will have Mass and visit the Church of St Stephen, which contains the oldest recorded Eucharistic Miracle. Stolen by a woman in payment to a sorcerer, the Host began to emit a brilliant beam of light and then bleed. Reverently returned to the church of St Stephen, this miracle has been on continuous display since 1269 and is one of the most famous and recognized eucharistic miracles in the world.  The Catholic Church officially recognizes the Eucharistic miracle of Santarém as authentic.

In 1997, scientific tests confirmed that the contents in the vessel were human flesh and blood, with the same rare AB+ blood type as the Shroud of Turin, Sudarium of Oviedo, Buenos Aires, Tixtla, Cúa, Sokółka and Legnica, and Lanciano.   Based on the modern-day frequency of AB in the population (5.5%), the probability of the same blood group being found in the Shroud of Turin, the Sudarium of Oviedo, and the six Eucharistic miracles mentioned above is estimated to be in the order of 22 billion to one.

Many saints and royalty throughout history have venerated the miraculous host of Santarém, such as Queen Saint Elizabeth of Portugal, who visited twice.  The great Jesuit Saint Francis Xavier also came to Santarém on a pilgrimage before embarking on his great missionary journey to India.

In the afternoon, we will drive to nearby Fatima, the place where the Blessed Mother appeared in 1917 to three simple shepherd children and exhorted mankind to pray for world peace. Tonight you may participate in a Fatima candlelight procession. Dinner and overnight in Fatima.

Prayer for Recovery of Lost Things

O Blessed St. Anthony, God’s grace has made you a powerful advocate in all our needs and the patron saint for the finding of things lost or stolen; to you, I now have recourse with love and confidence.

You have assisted in countless requests for the recovery of lost goods. I recommend my present loss to your care in the real hope that you will help me find it, as long as my request is for God’s glory and the welfare of my soul.

Obtain also for me a strong faith, peace of mind, a love for the things of God, and a sincere active will to do good to others. I make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Fatima Prayers

My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You! I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love You!

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly and I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference with which He is offended. And through the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

Prayers taught by the Angel

O Jesus, it is for love of You, and for the conversion of sinners and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary!

O my Jesus, forgive us, save us from the fire of hell; lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are most in need.

This review does not do justice to what was a wonderful, spiritual and fun pilgrimage to Fatima and Lourdes. There wasn’t anyone on the pilgrimage tour that you wouldn’t want to be friends with or encounter. Fr. John Restrepo was an excellent spiritual director as well as a fun loving individual. We were blessed to have him as our mentor.

I would like to express my appreciation to you and Catholic Journeys for an amazing Fatima Lourdes pilgrimage. Thank you for the daily mass you offered that made the pilgrimage so Holy! It could have been an outstanding experience, if it wouldn’t for the unprofessional and disorganized tour person. Beside that our family has an amazing time!

As promised, I would like to shared with you the experience from my other family members on the pilgrimage after ours.

My uncle, aunt, sister and brother in-law had a great time on the Fatima Lourdes Rome Pilgrimage in Oct 12 – Oct 26! Everything went well on their trip. They loved their tour guide and the priest. They were very profession and knowledgeable. They loved the daily mass, hotels, great food and a little special touch with a complimentary bottle waters every time the get on and off the bus.

May God protects and bless you and everyone with CatholicJourneys.com health and success in the Pilgrimage tours business!

Once again, thank you and God bless!
