Camino de Santiago Catholic Pilgrimage Hotels

We regularly use these hotels on the Camino de Santigo Catholic Pilgrimage, our version of the Camino Frances – our Catholic Walking Pilgrimage in Spain.  We try to use these hotels, but may have to use similar ones:

Madrid

Sarria – where we begin the walking part of this pilgrimage

Hotel Alfonso IX—This 4-star hotel, with modern and functional facilities, is located in a newly constructed building in Sarria.  Its privileged location is on the Camino de Santiago, the French Way.  Overlooking the Sarria River, this hotel is a half-mile from the ruins of the Fortaleza de Sarria and the Sarria train station.  Laid-back rooms with wooden floors offer free Wi-Fi, flat screens, safes, minibars, and desks.  Amenities include a restaurant, cafe/bar, lobby lounge, outdoor pool, and exercise room.

Morgade

Casa Morgade is a 3-star hotel with a garden and a terrace.  It is also a historic guest house in a building dating back to the 19th century that provides accommodations with Wi-Fi.

Portomarin

Hotel Pousada De Portomarin—This 3-star hotel offers views of the Miño River and is just a 4-minute walk from the Church of San Xoán of Portomarín.  The country-style rooms are cozy and feature wood floors and furnishings.  Each room includes  Wi-Fi, a TV, a mini-fridge, and an en suite bathroom.  Hotel amenities include a restaurant, an outdoor pool, and a furnished terrace with river views.  Additionally, there is a gym, a sauna, and a guest lounge.

VENTAS DE NARON

Hotel As Torres Da Hermida—This 4-star hotel in Ventas de Narón offers accommodations with a garden, a shared lounge, and a terrace.  Each room provides stunning mountain views, and guests can access a restaurant and a bar.  The hotel features a 24-hour front desk and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property.  All guest rooms have a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a minibar, a coffee machine, a shower, complimentary toiletries, and a desk.  Each room includes a private bathroom complete with a hairdryer.  Additionally, all rooms are furnished with a wardrobe and a kettle.

Palas de Rei

Hotel Pension Palas De Rei – 3-star hotel in Palas De Rei. Flanked by green space and farmland, this casual, rural hotel in the Careón mountain range offers rooms with simple wood furnishings, Wi-Fi access, and flat-screen TVs. Some rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows offering area views. A breakfast buffet is provided.

Melide

HOTEL XANEIRO – Hotel Restaurant Xaneiro offers accommodation in Melide and features a shared lounge, a restaurant, and a bar that provides guests a sun terrace.  At the hotel, all rooms have a desk and a flat-screen TV.  With a private bathroom equipped with a bidet and complimentary toiletries, rooms at Hotel Restaurant Xaneiro also provide guests with WiFi.

Arzua

HOTEL PENSION VALARINO—In Arzua, you’ll enjoy relaxing rooms with flat-screen TVs, kitchenettes, and refrigerators.  Pension Vilarino Moscoso offers guests free internet access so they can stay connected.

Salceda

HOTEL ALBERGUE TURISTICO SALCEDA – a 3-star hotel in Salceda. Flanked by farms, the rooms have stone accent walls, TVs, and private bathrooms.  Breakfast is served in an informal restaurant with patio seating.  There’s a hot tub with sunloungers, plus a garden with a reflection pool, a fountain, and sitting areas.  Guest laundry facilities are also available for a fee.

Rua Pedrouzo

Hotel O Pino in Rua Pedrouzo is on a rural stretch of the national road along the Way of St. James pilgrimage route.  This down-to-earth hotel has rooms with satellite TV and Wi-Fi.  Amenities include a rustic restaurant with exposed stone walls and breakfast.  There’s also a garden and a terrace.

LAVACOLLA

Hotel Garcas is a 2-star establishment featuring a traditional Galician restaurant with a covered terrace.  The rooms offer Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom with an outward-facing view.  The hotel’s restaurant specializes in local dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.  Additionally, there is a café on-site.  The Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage Route passes close to the hotel.

Santiago de Compostela

Hotel Compostela—This 4-star hotel is set in a stone-walled building in the city center of Santiago de Compostela.  It is a 9-minute walk from the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral.  The modern rooms and suites offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and minibars.  There’s a cafe, a bar, and a breakfast buffet.
