Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage Tour

(14 Reviews)

For pilgrims who wish to take a spiritual journey close to home, the Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage tour offers a pilgrimage experience to Mexico without the jetlag of traveling to Europe or the Holy Land. Mexico City is home to some of the most beautiful churches and shrines in all of the Americas. While on the Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage tour, pilgrims will spend a day at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, beginning with Mass in the modern Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where the Miraculous image on the Tilma of St Juan Diego is featured above the main altar. Our expert guide will recount the story of how Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to St. Juan Diego, and you will have the opportunity to view the image up close on a moving walkway. Atop the hill behind the basilica, called Tepiac, you will see the original chapel built on the site of Our Lady’s apparition.  During your stay in Mexico City, you will also visit Tulpetlac, also known as the Church of the Healing, which is the site of Our Lady’s fifth apparition and where St. Juan Diego’s Uncle was cured. While in Mexico City, the Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage tour will also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Latin America, and the National Palace, which are both located on the main square, the Zocalo. You will also visit and have Mass at the Holy Family Church, where you will pray at the tomb of Blessed Miguel Agustin Pro, the Jesuit martyr. Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage tour will travel to Puebla, to visit St. Dominic’s Church, its magnificent Chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, and to the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, where you will view the incorrupt body of Bl. Sebastian of Aparicio. Of course, no trip to Mexico would be complete without a visit to the pyramids of San Juan Teotihuacan. Here you will see the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, and enjoy a Mexican Lunch in a nearby restaurant.  Book your Guadalupe Pilgrimage Tour to Mexico today for 2023 or 2024 or 2025!

Metropolitan cathedral mexico city guadalupe pilgrimage tourThis morning, your day will begin with breakfast, followed by Mass at the Holy Family Church, where you will view the tomb of Fr. Miguel Agustin Pro, the Jesuit martyr. In a time of religious persecution, Fr. Pro was exiled from Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. During his time in Mexico, he assisted many individuals in their spiritual, as well as temporal, needs. He was eventually discovered, arrested, and killed by authorities. While at the Holy Family Church, you may pray to this great martyr who remained filled with the joy of serving Our Lord even in the midst of difficult times. You will also visit the small but very inspiring Museum dedicated in honor of Father Pro.  After this visit, you will tour the oldest and largest cathedral in  Latin America, the Metropolitan Cathedral. This magnificent palace has been a building of the ruling class of Mexico since the Aztec Empire’s rule. During this visit, you will be able to view some amazing murals painted by Diego Rivera. You will then visit the Plaza of Santo Domingo. This plaza contains two Holy places that are architecturally exquisite; the Church of Santo Domingo, the first church built by the Dominicans in 1576, and; the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary, the first Rosary Shrine in Mexico. Additionally, you will visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Covadonga, the headquarters of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary. The Shrine is dedicated to the Patron Saint of Asturias (Spain). Return to your hotel to enjoy a delicious dinner and overnight.

We use these 5 and 4-star hotels in Mexico. Click here.

Do I need to pack an electrical adapter? No. Mexico uses the same outlets as the USA.

Is it safe to travel to Mexico?

Our pilgrimage is very safe.  We have not had any problems as we only stay at safe hotels in secure areas.  Our president, Jimmy Hyland, just went in September 2022 and felt safe at all times.  Not a single pilgrim has reported to us feeling unsafe at any time.

How do I meet up with the group if I make my own flight arrangements?

Arrival times vary between dates and within pilgrimages.  If you make your own flight arrangements, we can arrange a private transfer from Mexico City International Airport to the group hotel for $59 per person each way.  We recommend using our transfer service because they are known and trusted drivers.  As soon as you have your flight information, email Marcelle.

“It was 32 years since my last pilgrimage to Guadalupe before this last one. Mary has not aged a day.” “The miraculous image on Juan Diego’s tilma is more than just a Marian Apparition. It is the hope of the Meso-American people for almost 500 years who have had their Faith tested and their model of perseverance to endure. To be able to see the tilma and hear the story of the Aztec Peoples in the year 1531, as well as their steadfastness in the Cristero War, shows that God has not abandoned them nor have they abandoned Him. Mary is the link and she is our link in our Pilgrimage of life. Going to Guadalupe helps to unite us with Christians throughout the world and shows that we have a Heavenly Father and a Heavenly Mother who loves us and cares for us. This pilgrimage is very rewarding, plus it is in our backyard.”

What an incredible journey, surrounded by a faith-based group of people, with whom I share my devotion to the Virgin Mary.

The pilgrimage surpasses my expectations. It was very well organized and very informative. Our guide Raul was very knowledgeable of the history of the Catholic Church in Mexico, and the previous civilizations of Mexico, and went out of his way to ensure that our journey went smoothly.

Great hospitality. Staying at Le Méridien Hotel in the heart of Mexico City was a thrill. Great food, great location, and great shopping.

I am looking forward to embarking on my next pilgrimage with Catholic Journeys.

Many Blessings!

Our pilgrimage to Mexico City was a beautiful experience. Catholic Journeys set up a wonderful itinerary. The highlight of course was seeing Juan Diego’s tilma and the image of the blessed mother, learning what the image represented, and the impact that she had on the Aztec people. It’s so profound to think of this apparition and that we walked this holy ground. Then we had time to pray before the image of our lady in the basilica, which was very important to all the pilgrims. But the tours of the many churches and basilicas in and around Mexico City was quite a rewarding experience as well, along with daily mass at one of the historic and beautiful churches. What a gift we were given. In addition to the tours of the many churches, the hotel Meriden was excellent and the travel arrangements were first class, as well as the food arrangements at the various pilgrimage and tour sites which we visited. How grateful we are to have picked Catholic Journeys for our pilgrimage to Mexico City and our lady of Guadalupe’s shrine.

Peace and blessings,

Roy B

I thank YOU for a beautiful experience. Our tour guide Manuel was excellent, so informative and gracious. The van driver was also excellent, and very patient with us. Our hotel was 5 stars, so beautiful and spotlessly clean, and the meals served there were wonderful. The lunches at restaurants were delicious and full of Mexican traditional atmosphere. The Masses at the Basilica brought me to tears with their beauty. It was all I hoped for and more. All of the sites we saw were extraordinary, inc the shopping areas. Sincerely, Rita Y
