Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage Tour

(11 Reviews)

For pilgrims who wish to take a spiritual journey close to home, the Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage tour offers a pilgrimage experience to Mexico without the jetlag of traveling to Europe or the Holy Land. Only a two-hour flight from Houston, Mexico City is home to some of the most beautiful churches and shrines in all of the Americas. While on the Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage tour, pilgrims will spend a day at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, beginning with Mass in the modern Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where the Miraculous image on the Tilma of St Juan Diego is featured above the main altar. Our expert guide will recount the story of how Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to St. Juan Diego, and you will have the opportunity to view the image up close on a moving walkway. Atop the hill behind the basilica, called Tepiac, you will see the original chapel built on the site of Our Lady’s apparition.  During your stay in Mexico City, you will also visit Tulpetlac, also known as the Church of the Healing, which is the site of Our Lady’s fifth apparition and where St. Juan Diego’s Uncle was cured. While in Mexico City, the Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage tour will also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Latin America, and the National Palace, which are both located on the main square, the Zocalo. You will also visit and have Mass at the Holy Family Church, where you will pray at the tomb of Blessed Miguel Agustin Pro, the Jesuit martyr. Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage tour will travel to Pueblo, to visit St. Dominic’s Church, and its magnificent Chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, and to visit the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, where you will view the incorrupt body of Bl. Sebastian of Aparicio. Of course, no trip to Mexico would be complete without a visit to the pyramids of San Juan Teotihuacan. Here you will see the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, and enjoy a Mexican Lunch in a nearby restaurant.  Go ahead and book your Guadalupe Pilgrimage Tour today for 2023 or 2024!

You will also visit the small but very inspiring Museum dedicated in honor of Father Pro.  After this visit, you will tour the oldest and largest cathedral in  Latin America, the Metropolitan Cathedral. Throughout your time in the cathedral, you will be overwhelmed by the beautiful paintings, altar pieces, and statues. Your tour continues with a transfer to the National Palace. This magnificent palace has been a building of the ruling class of Mexico since the Aztec Empire’s rule. During this visit, you will be able to view some amazing murals painted by Diego Rivera. You will then visit to the Plaza of Santo Domingo. Our pilgrimage to Mexico City was a beautiful experience. Catholic Journeys set up a wonderful itinerary. The highlight of course was seeing Juan Diego’s tilma and the image of the blessed mother, learning what the image represented, and the impact that she had on the Aztec people. It’s so profound to think of this apparition and that we walked this holy ground. Then we had time to pray before the image of our lady in the basilica, which was very important to all the pilgrims. But the tours of the many churches and basilicas in and around Mexico City was quite a rewarding experience as well, along with daily mass at one of the historic and beautiful churches. What a gift we were given. In addition to the tours of the many churches, the hotel Meriden was excellent and the travel arrangements were first class, as well as the food arrangements at the various pilgrimage and tour sites which we visited. How grateful we are to have picked Catholic Journeys for our pilgrimage to Mexico City and our lady of Guadalupe’s shrine.

Peace and blessings,

Roy B

I thank YOU for a beautiful experience. Our tour guide Manuel was excellent, so informative and gracious. The van driver was also excellent, and very patient with us. Our hotel was 5 stars, so beautiful and spotlessly clean, and the meals served there were wonderful. The lunches at restaurants were delicious and full of Mexican traditional atmosphere. The Masses at the Basilica brought me to tears with their beauty. It was all I hoped for and more. All of the sites we saw were extraordinary, inc the shopping areas. Sincerely, Rita Y

We had such a wonderful time on our Catholic Journeys tour of Our Lady of Guadalupe! We felt safe the whole time in Mexico. We didn’t get sick. We travelled with Jimmy and 8 others. It was extremely reverent and immersed in the Faith. We really appreciated learning more about Blessed Miguel Pro and Mexican history as well. We didn’t know anything about Catholic Journeys before, but we will go with them for any of our pilgrimages in the future.
