Nov 2 - Depart Los
Angeles for Amman
Nov 3 - Arrive Amman. Meet your local guide and transfer to your First
Class Hotel. Overnight in Amman.
Nov 4 - Amman, Baptism Site, Mt Nebo, Madaba This morning you will begin
with a panoramic tour of the capital city, Amman. From here you will head south
visit to the Baptismal site of John the Baptist, near the Jordan River which was
re-consecrated in 2000 during the visit of Saint John Paul II. Drive up out of
the Jordan Valley and from the summit of Mt. Nebo, view the "Promised Land" as
Moses did. Nearby Madaba is home to a beautiful sixth century mosaic of
Palestine, possibly the oldest existing map of the Holy Land. Continue traveling
south along the Kings High-way to Wadi Musa for dinner and overnight.
Nov 5 - Full Day in Petra - A visit to Petra is indeed an adventure. From
the town of Wadi Musa you will walk through the rose colored canyon to Petra, a
city dating back to 300 B.C., which was literally cut into the cliff sides. You
can also take an optional a horse/donkey cart ride through the Syk. You will
have plen-ty of time to tour the various temples, the Amphitheater, the
Monastery, the Streets of Columns, and the Treasury. Dinner and overnight in
Nov 6 - Jerash, Um Qais - Today you will travel north to Jerash. Jesus
came to the ‘land of the Gerasenes’ and like Pella, Amman and Gadara it was one
of the cities of the Decapolis. Explore the beautiful Graeco-Roman city of
Jerash (in the Bible Gerasa) with its temples, streets of columns, theatres and
even from a later time church-es. From here you will visit Um Qais (probably
Gada-ra) from which the swine rushed down to the Sea of Galilee. From here there
is a wonderful view over the Sea of Galilee. Drive on to cross the Jordan River
via the Sheikh Hussein Bridge into Galilee. Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.
Nov 7 - The Ministry of Christ in the Galilee: Boat ride, Sea of Galilee,
Capernaum, Mt. Beatitudes, Caesarea Philippi. - Some of today's highlights are a
boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum to see the synagogue and St
Peter's house, a visit to the Mount of the Beatitudes where the Sermon on the
Mount was given, to Tabgha to see the splendid mosaic about the miracle of the
loaves and fishes, and to the nearby Church of Peter's Primacy where Peter was
told "Feed my lambs, feed my sheep." Visit Caesarea Philippi, location of the
testimony of St. Peter and where Jesus answered him “You are the Rock and upon
this rock I will build my Church.” Dinner and overnight at your hotel in the
Nov 8 - Mt Tabor, Cana, Nazareth – Begin with a drive to Mount Tabor,
scene of the Transfiguration. Then drive to Cana, the village of Jesus' first
miracle of changing water into wine; here couples may renew their wedding vows.
Continue to the Basilica of Annunciation in Nazareth where you will celebrate
Mass and visit Mary's Well and the Church of the Angel Gabriel. Dinner and
over-night in Galilee.
Nov 9 - Sepphoris, Mt Carmel - We begin the day by visiting Sepphoris, a
regional city at the time of Jesus. Then on to Mukhraka where Elijah confronted
the false prophets of Baal and where the Carmelite Order was started. Din-ner
and overnight in Galilee.
Nov 10 - Caesarea, Jerusalem - Travel down the coast to Caesarea, where
the Romans held Paul prisoner and visit the Roman and Crusader ruins. Continue
on to Jerusalem, a city with 4000 years of history. Dinner and overnight in
Nov 11 - Ein Karem & Bethlehem - Journey to the village of Ein Karem, the
birthplace of St John the Baptist and to the Church of Visitation where the
Blessed Virgin Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, and proclaimed the 'Magnificat'.
In the afternoon we drive to Bethlehem to visit the Shepherd's Fields where the
angels announced the birth of Jesus. Then visit the Church of the Nativity that
stands upon the site where Jesus was born. Mass at the Church of the Nativity.
Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Nov 12 - Mt Olives, Dominus Flevit, Gethsemane, Cave of Betrayal, Cave of
Assumption, Pater Noster, Western Wall, Upper Room, Dormition - Travel to
the Mt. of Olives and take in the dramatic view of the Old City. Here we will
visit the Pater Noster where the Lord’s Prayer is carved in the walls in many
languages, and the Chapel of the Ascension from where Jesus ascended to Heaven.
Walk down along the Palm Sunday route stopping at Dominus Flevit, where Jesus
wept over Jerusalem. Then to Gethsem-ane, the Rock of Agony, where Jesus prayed
His last pray-er before His arrest. Visit the cave of betrayal, then the cave of
Assumption of Mary to heaven. In the afternoon, we will visit the remains of
Western Wall of the ancient Temple of Jerusalem. Nearby is the Dome of the Rock
and Temple Mount. From there you will visit the House of Caiaphas and see the
dungeon where Jesus was impris-oned after His arrest. Also called St. Peter in
Gallicantu (which means “cockcrow” in Latin), this is the place where Peter
denied knowing Jesus three times. Dinner and over-night in Jerusalem.
Nov 13 - Stations of the Cross, St
Anne’s Church. Ecce Homo, Church of the Holy Sepulchre - In the morning you
will retrace the last steps of Jesus as you walk along the Via Dolorosa (Way of
Sorrow), through the markets of the Old City praying the Stations of the Cross
and reflecting on the greatness of His sacrifice. Visit St. Anne’s Church, the
home of the Virgin Mary and her parents Saints Joachim and Anne, and pass the
Ecce Homo where Pilate proclaimed “Behold the man!” Finally you arrive at the
Church of the Holy Sepulchre for Mass. There will be time for prayer in this
sacred place that covers the site of the Crucifixion, and the place where Jesus
Christ rose from the dead. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Jerusalem.
Nov 14 - Bethany, Jericho, Dead Sea - Begin the day with a visit to
Bethany where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead before continuing on to the
oasis town of Jericho to see the excavations of the oldest city in the world and
to view Mt. Temptation where Jesus fasted and was tempted by Satan. Visit
Qumran, where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered and continue on to the Dead
Sea where you will have time for a swim (or rather a float!) in the mineral-rich
water, renowned for its healing properties. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and
Nov 15 - Israel Museum, Emmaus, Tel Aviv, Jaffa - Visit the Israel Museum
where you will see a scale model of the Second Temple and the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Then travel to Emmaus where you will visit the Church of Emmaus and see the
remains of the road on which the risen Christ walked with two of his disciples.
Afterwards you will have a city tour of Tel Aviv and visit the port of Jaffa
where you will visit to St. Peter’s Church, the single largest and most
distinctive building in Old Jaffa. Enjoy a Special Farewell Dinner in Jerusalem.
Late night transfer to the Airport.
