with Fr. Murchadh O'Madagain, Spiritual Director

Proposed Itinerary

Day 1 Depart for Medjugorje
Depart Fort Myers on your connecting overnight flights to Europe. Dinner and Breakfast will be served on your transatlantic flight.

Day 2 Arrive in Croatia

Upon arrival you'll meet your local guide who will escort you to the village of Medjugorje. Dinner and overnight in Medjugorje. (B,D)

Days 3-5 Medjugorje

The most beautiful feature of Medjugorje is its simplicity and its peace. While in Medjugorje you will share your faith journey with pilgrims from all over the world. Here are some of the activities that you will experience:
* Attend Mass at 10:00AM each morning in St. James Church, followed by a blessing of all religious articles present with you. * Climb Apparition Hill to the exact location where the visionaries first en-countered the Virgin Mary, reciting the Rosary along the way, and visit the Blue Cross at the base of this hill, where Our Lady appeared to the children while they hid from the communist police. * Climb Mt. Krizevac (Cross Mountain) where in 1933 the villagers built a 30' high cross to commemorate Jesus' passion and death. You will pray the Stations of the Cross along the way. * Each evening at 6PM you may join the villagers and fellow pilgrims in praying the Rosary at St. James Church as all anxiously await the arrival of Our Lady to the visionaries at 6:40pm. Following the apparition, you are invited to stay for the Croatian Mass and the Blessing of the Sick. * Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place Tuesday evening at the Out-side Altar of St. James Church, and every afternoon in the Adoration Chapel. * Veneration of the Cross takes place on Friday evenings inside St. James Church. * Your guide will arrange meetings with the visionaries at their homes, pending their availability. * Visit to the Community of Cenacolo founded by the Sisters of Charity for young men on the road to recovery from addictions, and listen to their inspi-rational words about their journeys back to Jesus Christ. * Pray at the bronze Statue of the Risen Christ located on the grounds of St. James Church and see droplets of water miraculously seep out of Christ's right knee. Day 6 Medjugorje - Fatima
After an early breakfast, you will depart for Dubrovnik (or Split) air-port for your connecting flights to Lisbon. Upon arrival you will travel to Fatima for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

Day 7 & 8 - Fatima
Our Lady appeared to three shepherd children; Lucia (age 10), Jacinta (age 7), and Francisco (age 9). These apparitions occurred monthly from May until October of 1917. Historically, as the entire world was in true turmoil, Our Lady's most prominent message during this time was to pray for world peace. In Fatima, you will visit the Little Chapel of the Apparitions located on the site of where the Vir-gin Mary first appeared on May 13, 1917. Visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, which contains the tombs of Blessed Francisco, Blessed Jacinta and Sister Lucia, and the Holy Trinity Basilica. Visit the Hamlet of Aljustrel to see the home of the three shepherd children, the old Parish Church and Cemetery. Participate in the Sta-tions of the Cross along the Via Sacra, the "Sacred Way" which marks the path taken by the visionaries of Fatima to their first apparition. The 15th station, the Resurrection, can be found near the Chapel of Calvary, dedicated to St. Stephen, King of Hungary. Also visit Valinhos, where the children had an apparition of Our Lady and the Angel. A candlelight procession will follow dinner at the hotel each evening . (B,D)

Day 9 - Santarem - Lisbon
After breakfast, travel to Santarem to visit the Church of St. Stephen, which holds the oldest recorded Eucharistic Miracle. The Miracle occurred when a woman yearned to change the ways of her unfaithful husband and consulted a sorceress who agreed that she would cure the husband's infidelity in exchange for a consecrated Host. As the woman left the church the Host began to bleed so she hid the Host in a trunk. After telling her husband what she had done, light began to emanate from the trunk and they brought the Host to the parish priest. There will be time to pray and venerate the miracle before continuing on to Lisbon where you will visit St. Anthony's Church, which is built upon the site of St. Anthony's birth. Known as St. Anthony of Padua (Italy), this patron Saint of lost things is originally born in Lisbon. St. John Paul II visited this church in 1982 on his way to Fatima, to pray to Our Lady in thanks-giving for saving his life when he was shot one year prior, in 1981. Dinner and overnight in Lisbon. (B,D)

Day 10 Return Home
After breakfast you will transfer to Lisbon airport and board your transatlantic flight to begin your journey home.
