Celebrate the 31st Anniversary with a visit to Split, Dubrovnik & an Optional Extension to Rome! Mary Haley - Group Leader
Proposed Itinerary Day 1 – Knoxville – Split Depart Knoxville aboard your overnight transatlantic flights to Europe. Breakfast & Dinner served on board.
Day 2 - Split, Medjugorje Upon arrival in Split you will be met by our local tour guide who will be with you during your entire stay in Medjugorje. He will escort you to your private motorcoach, which will take you to the “old town” where you will have Mass at the St Domnius Cathedral and a walking tour around what remains of the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s palace. You will have time for lunch before re-boarding the bus for Medjugorje. Once there, you will have dinner and be introduced to your host family in who’s modern and comfortable house you will be staying for the next six nights.
Days 3 to 7 - Medjugorje Experience the beauty and peace of this simple village. During your stay in Medjugorje you will have the opportunity to share faith with thousands of pilgrims from all over the world. Your local guide will accompany you throughout the week. Here are some of the activities you will be sharing with your fellow pilgrims: Each morning at 10am you assemble at St James Church for the English-language Mass (Feast days and Sundays English Mass is at Noon). Follow the same path up Apparition Hill where the young visionaries first encountered Our Lady. Touch and pray before the cross that commemorates the spot where Mary first appeared to the visionaries.
Each evening at 5pm (or 6pm daylight savings time) you will join the villagers and pilgrims to pray the rosary, and attend the Croatian Mass. The apparition takes place at 5:40pm (or 6:40 daylight savings time.) Don’t miss the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Saturday, and the Veneration of the Cross in the Church on Fridays. Each evening during Croatian Mass, there is the Blessing of the Sick and blessing of the religious items you have with you. Your guide will arrange meetings with the visionaries as they are available. You will have the opportunity to climb Krizevac Mountain, where in 1933 the villagers built a 30' high cross on the 1900th anniversary of Jesus’ crucifixion. Visit and pray at “Blue Cross,” which is a place of great healings and graces - a very special place at the base of Apparition Hill.
Day 8 – Dubrovnik – Rome After breakfast you will depart for Dubrovnik, the “Pearl of the Adriatic” where you will have Mass and the Blessing of the Throats at St. Blase Church. Afterwards you will have lunch and a walking tour of this beautiful medieval, walled city before heading to the airport to catch your 1 hour flight to Rome. Upon arrival in Rome you will check into your hotel. Evening is free for dinner on your own.
Day 9 – Return to USA After breakfast you will return to the airport for your return flight to Knoxville.
