Rome, Lourdes, Paris & Lisieux

Day 1 & 2 – Depart Denver for Rome
Upon arrival into Rome, you will meet your tour guide and board your private motorcoach for a panoramic tour of Rome on the way to the hotel. Highlights include the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Dinner and overnight in Rome.

 

Day 3 - Rome (Papal Audience at the Vatican - if available)
Today is truly a day that will be in your minds for many years to come. This morning we go to Vatican City to attend the weekly Papal Audience and Blessing given by His Holiness Pope Francis. Following the audience you will visit of the Vatican Museums and admire the many galleries filled with art treasures donated throughout centuries as tributes of faith. You will tour the Tapestry Gallery, the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel, containing Michelangelo's restored mural of the Last Judgment. Later, enter the largest church in Christendom St Peter's Basilica, built on the site where St Peter was martyred. Unsurpassed in beauty, a monument to the long history of the Cath-olic Church, to which pilgrims come from around the world, St Peter's is the grandest of the world's churches. Marvel at Michelangelo’s Pieta and Bernini's amazing bronze canopy. Before dinner, you’ll have some time at leisure, to explore your own paths, to shop, or just to sit in one of the outside cafes and watch the world go by. Overnight in Rome.


Day 4 – Rome
This morning depart for a sightseeing tour of a lifetime! The tour includes three major Basilicas: St Mary Major, one of the oldest shrines dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, a shrine that contains a relic from the manger of the infant Jesus; The Basilica of the St John in Lateran, is the former residence of the popes prior to their return to Rome in 1377; and St Paul Outside the Walls, which houses the remains of St Paul under its main altar. You will also see the ancient Baths of Caracalla, Arch of Drusus, Chapel "O'Domine Quo Va-dis?" the remains of imperial tombs, Tomb of Celilia Metella, and the cata-combs of St Callixtus where the early Christians hid themselves to escape persecution. Dinner and overnight in Rome


Day 5 - Rome - Lourdes
After breakfast, we will transfer to Rome Airport for your flight to Toulouse. Upon arrival you will meet your tour escort who will take you to your waiting motorcoach, which will then take you on your scenic drive to Lourdes. Upon arrival you will check in to your hotel and relax or explore before dinner. Fol-lowing dinner you may choose to participate in the candlelight procession before retiring for the evening.


Days 6 & 7 - Lourdes
Our Lady first appeared to Bernadette in 1858 and announced herself as "The Immaculate Conception." During your time in Lourdes, you will pray and at-tend Mass at the Grotto of Massabielle; watch a video presentation that ex-plains the story of Lourdes; drink water from the miraculous spring and sub-merge yourself in the baths that have healed many. You will walk in the foot-steps of St. Bernadette as you visit Boly Mill, the birthplace of St. Bernadette, and the "Cachot," an abandoned prison where Bernadette's impoverish family lived. You will also have the opportunity to pray at the "life size" Stations of the Cross that overlook the Grotto. Each evening following dinner, you can attend the candle light procession and the Rosary.


Day 8 - Lourdes - Lisieux
After breakfast make your way to Pau Airport for your flight to Paris. Upon arrival, you will board your motorcoach and travel north to Lisieux stopping along the way in Rouen, the former capital of Normandy. Here we will visit the richly decorated 11th century Cathedral of Notre Dame and see the remains of St. Joan of Arc, the Patron Saint of France. There will be time to have lunch and explore the Market Square where St. Joan of Arc was burned at the Stake. Continue on to Lisieux, the town of St. Therese the “Little Flower.” Dinner and overnight in Lisieux.

 

Day 9 - Lisieux
Today we will enjoy a tour visiting the places connected with the life of St. Therese, whom Pope Pius X called "the greatest saint of modern times." We will celebrate Mass at the Basilica of Saint Therese, one of the biggest and most magnificent religious structures built in the 20th-century. After watching a short video of her life, we will continue on to Les Buissonets, St. Therese's family home, where her relics, clothing, and personal objects are on display. From there we will visit the “Carmel,” which was St. Therese’s convent until she died at the age of only 24. There will be time for prayer and reflections. Dinner and overnight in Lisieux.


Day 10 - Lisieux - Paris
After breakfast we will travel to Paris, where our first stop will be for Mass at the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal. Here we will view the incorrupt body of St. Cathe-rine Labouret whose guardian angel led her to the chapel where the Blessed Virgin displayed a vision of the miraculous medal and later the green scapular. The Virgin promised bountiful graces for all who wore these. Also located in the shrine is the incorrupt heart of St. Vincent de Paul. We will see before we exit the shrine, to visit the nearby Church of St. Vincent de Paul which contains the rest of his body in a glass case. There will be time for lunch before enjoying a panoramic sightseeing tour which includes the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower, L'Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysees and the Louvre. Enjoy a special farewell dinner tonight near the Basilica of Sacre Coeur, in Montmartre overlooking the city of Lights. Overnight in Paris.


Day 11 - Paris - USA
After an early breakfast make your way to the Paris Airport for your return flight to the USA.
