Journey to Medjugorje and Rome October 29- November 6, 2012
Proposed Itinerary Day 1 - Depart USA-Board your overnight transatlantic flights from the USA. Meals are served on board. Day 2 - Arrive Medjugorje-Arrive in Split where your tour guide and driver will take you to the village of Medjugorje. Once there, you will have dinner and be introduced to your host family in who’s modern and comfortable house you will be staying for the next seven nights. Days 3 to 8 - Medjugorje-During your stay in Medjugorje you will have the opportunity to share faith with thousands of pilgrims from all over the world. Your local guide will accompany you throughout the week. Here are some of the activities you will be sharing with your fellow pilgrims: Each morning at 10am you assemble at St James Church for the English-language Mass (Feast days and Sundays English Mass is at Noon). Follow the same path up Apparition Hill where the young visionaries first encountered Our Lady. Touch and pray before the cross that commemorates the spot where Mary first appeared to the visionaries. Each evening at 5pm you will join the villagers and pilgrims to pray the rosary, and then stay on for Croatian Mass. The apparition takes place at 5:40pm. Don’t miss the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Saturday, and the Veneration of the Cross in the Church on Fridays. Each evening during Croatian Mass, there is the Blessing of the Sick and blessing of the religious items you have with you. Your guide will arrange meetings with the visionaries as they are available. You will have the opportunity to climb Mt. Krizevac, where in 1933 the villagers built a 30' high cross on the 1900th anniversary of Jesus’ crucifixion. and pray at “Blue Cross”, which is a place of great healings and graces- a very special place at the base of Apparition Hill. Day 9 - Medjugorje - Vepric - Rome- After breakfast you will travel to the Croatian Shrine of Vepric, dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. Here you will have Mass before continuing on to Split where you will board your flight to Rome. If you are not traveling to Rome you will stay overnight in Split. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Rome or Split. Day 10 - Split - USA- Transfer to Split Airport for your return flights to the USA. *Optional Extension to Rome* Day 10 -Rome-This morning you will go to Vatican City to attend the weekly Papal Audience and Blessing given by His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI. After the audience you will visit of the Vatican Museums: The Tapestry Gallery, The Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo's Masterpiece, restored mural of the Last Judgment. Later, enter the largest church in Christendom St Peter's Basilica, built on the site where St. Peter was martyred. Enjoy some time to pray, shop or explore on your own. Dinner and overnight in Rome. Day 11 - Rome- Today you will depart on a sightseeing tour, the tour includes three major Basilicas: St Mary Major, a shrine that contains a relic from the manger of the infant Jesus. The Basilica of the St John in Lateran, is the former residence of the popes until 1377. St Paul Outside the Walls, which houses the remains of St Paul under its main altar. You will also see the ancient Baths of Caracalla, Arch of Drusus, Chapel "O'Domine Quo Vadis?", Tomb of Celilia Metella, and the catacombs of St Callixtus. Dinner and overnight for your last evening in Rome. Day 12 - Rome – USA – Transfer to Rome Airport for your return flights to the USA
